Kinderchor
Concordia Community Kinderchor is CMC’s community children’s chorus for children in grades 4-8. The choir meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons for 45 minutes to rehearse, learn sight-singing and ear-training, and develop a healthy classical singing style. The primary focus is on singing traditional sacred choral music of master classical composers, with a special emphasis on singing German chorales and folksongs. Sometimes they have additional workshops, clinics or extended rehearsals that build relationships and foster new singing challenges in preparation for their special appearances. They regularly sing in two and sometimes in three parts.
Kleinkinderchor
The Kleinkinderchor is the preparatory choir for the Kinderchor. Children grades K-3rd grade meet weekly for 30 minutes and learn solfeg, rhythm chants, and singing games that and to find their singing voice so that they can match pitch in a healthy head voice. They sing regularly in German and English and perform several times a year in nursing homes, churches and for events. Once a semester, the Kleinkinderchor has a day where instead of rehearsing, they have a fun craft project that helps reinforce the songs they are learning.
Handbell Choir
To develop more ringers in the area, CMC would like to open this class to any adults or high school students who want to participate. Handbells offer an easy entry into music participation within a congregation. We want to develop more ringers from across age groups and church homes. Because the addition of adults and high school students would help our younger ringers, we would like to offer this class at cost for the space and supplies for high schoolers and adults.
Guitar Class/Beginning Strings Ensemble
Newly formed in Spring 2026, the Beginning Strings Ensemble is a group of young musicians focused on learning how to play violins, violas, and cellos in an ensemble setting led by our strings instructor Rebecca Sowell. The guitar version is led by our guitar instructor, Dr. Gary Moege.
